ASO seizes goods & vehicles worth Rs34m during July

ISLAMABAD: The Customs Collectorate Anti Smuggling Organization seized huge quantity of smuggled goods during the month of July worth Rs34 million.

Newly transferred Deputy Collector Wajid Zaman told Customs Today, that anti-smuggling drive is on its high swing during the start of new financial year 2018-19 he added that ASO is using its all possible tools to stop all trends of smuggling within the region.

He said that during first month of FY18-19 the ASO seized 6 offending vehicles (vehicles use for carrying smuggled things) worth  Rs4.5 million whereas ASO seized four non duty paid (NDP) luxury vehicles worth of Rs15 million.

Telling the details of other smuggled items during the above said period he said that ASO seized 1310 kilogram of foreign origin cloth worth of Rs0.625 million whereas ASO seized 480 kilogram of food grains worth of Rs.0.167 million as well as seized 180 numbers of smuggled tyres and tubes worth Rs1.3 million whereas ASO seized 740 sleeves of fake foreign origin cigarettes in worth Rs0.799 million while it seized 5332 kilogram of food grains worth of Rs1.45 million as well as the ASO seized 12000 liters of mobile oil  worth of Rs.2.4 million.

Deputy Collector Wajid Zaman said that by seizing Rs34 millions smuggled goods, NDP as well as offending vehicles during July FY18-19 anti smuggling squads showed outstanding performance. He said that ASO will work expedite its efforts against smuggled goods under the guidance of Collector Zulfiqar Chaudhary and Additional Collector Muhammad Ishfaq.
