Sindh Excise achieves 109% tax collection target

KARACHI: Sindh Interim Minister for Excise and Taxation Mushtaq Ahmed Shah has said that the Sindh Excise and Taxation Department has achieved 109 percent tax collection target during the fiscal year 2017-18 and recovered Rs 66484.982 million with bank guarantee in terms of various taxes while during last fiscal year 2016-17, Rs 57750.439 millions were recovered.

Presiding over a meeting of Excise and Taxation department at his office, the minister appreciated the efforts of officers and officials for achieving 109 percent target of taxes recovery, said a statement.

Briefing the meeting, Director General Excise and Taxation Shabbir Ahmed Shaikh said that Rs7021.115 millions were recovered in respect of Motor Vehicles Tax, Rs 52281.910 millions in Infrastructure Sales Tax and Rs 371.347 millions were recovered in Professional Tax.

Adding that Rs177.611 millions in terms of Cotton Fee, Rs1909.707 millions in Property Tax and Rs 61.782 millions in respect of Entertainment Duty were recovered while the remaining amount was recovered in terms of various other taxes.

The meeting also reviewed tax collection performance of July 2018.

Secretary Excise, Taxation and Narcotics Control Aijaz Ahmed Mahesar, Director Generals Shabbir Ahmed Shaikh and Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui and other Directors also attended the meeting.
