Kohat Customs torches seized chemicals & contraband goods worth Rs8m

PESHAWAR:  The Customs officials have burnt illegal chemicals and narcotics which had been seized during different anti-smuggling operations in various areas of the district, an official informed Customs Today.

Talking to reporters, Customs Department, Kohat Range, Deputy Collector, Tahir Iqbal said that the customs officials had seized nine drums of illegal chemicals and ‘gutka’ in actions against the criminals in various areas during the current year. He said the customs team also arrested nine smugglers who were now undergoing punishment under Customs Acts.

The customs department launched had launched crackdown against the outlaws who were involved in drug-trafficking and illegal explosive trafficking.

Officials of the district administration and the police were present on the occasion when the chemicals were burnt which worth Rs 8 million.

The Deputy Collector Tahir Iqbal further said that upon strict direction given by collector customs Collectorate Peshawar to all customs stations and customs check posts to eliminate the risk of corruption from the customs department. For the reason special teams were constituted in order to trace the entry of contraband goods and other chemicals.

The deputy collector lauded the efforts of customs officers who conducted different raids and seized chemicals which were burnt in order to give loud message to the wrong doers.

The deputy collector said no effort will be spared to mend the ways of corrupt people inside or outside of the customs department.
