New govt should take businessmen on board for restoration of economic plan

RAWALPINDI: The business community wants the new government to immediately address the economic conditions by taking all stakeholders (traders) on board and coming up with an economic restoration plan.

This was stated by the Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) president Zahid Latif Khan while addressing a traders meeting hosted by Mian Parvez Aslam group at a local hotel yesterday.

The country is facing big challenges like shortage of foreign reserves, fiscal deficit, decline in exports, whooping debt and energy, he added. Traders being the key stakeholders believed that government should take them on board while formalizing the economic policies and reforms in taxation.

RCCI chief said that the new government will have to work hard to stabilise the economy and RCCI will put its share in this task if the government takes the private sector on board. The real challenge for newly elected government is to ensure rupee stability, bring down imports and boost exports,” he said.

Group leader Sohail Altaf said that business community has lots of hope from the new government and expressed confidence that it will take trader’s in put while finalizing the economic map.

The meeting was attended by former presidents and representatives of trade associations including Sheikh Sadiq, Sheikh Hafeez, Sharjeel Mir, Shahid Ghafoor Paracha, Arshad Awan, Zahid Bakhtawri, Chaudhary Iqbal, among other business personalities.
