Faisalabad ASO impounds truck loaded with electric motors worth Rs8.5m

FAISALABAD: The Customs Anti-Smuggling Organization team impounded foreign origin smuggled used electric motors and Isuzu truck worth Rs 8.5 million involving duty and taxes of Rs3.6 million.

Sources told Customs Today that Collector Asif Mahmood Jah received credible information about some smuggling attempts. He immediately constituted a raiding team under the supervision of Superintendent Tanveer Raza Naqvi, Inspector Muhammad Irfan Faheem and sepoy Zulfiqar Ali Awan, Muhammad Ashraf, Muhammad Yaseen.

Sources told that the above mentioned team established a check post near Jhang Road. During checking of vehicles the ASO team intercepted a Isuzu truck bearing registration number AE-0727 SR and recovered used foreign origin electric motors in different brands and models under the rags of cloth in bags.

The ASO team asked the driver of the vehicle namely Qaiser Abbas to produce legal documents regarding possession and transportation of these items but he remained failed. After his failure ASO team seized the goods and registered a case of smuggling against the owner of goods.
