MINSK, 29 August (BelTA) – The customs agencies of Belarus and the United Arab Emirates intend to establish information exchange. The matter was high on the agenda of a meeting between Chairman of Belarus’ State Customs Committee Yuri Senko and head of the UAE Federal Customs Authority Ali Al Kaabi in Minsk on 29 August, BelTA learned from the Belarus’ State Customs Committee. Ali Al Kaabi stressed that the focus of the Belarusian customs on information technology increases the competitiveness of the economy. He considers it advisable to embark on developing a mechanism for information exchange between the customs authorities of the two countries.

Exchange of information with a view to preventing smuggling of goods, particularly drugs and dangerous psychotropic substances, will make the work of the customs services of the two countries more efficient, Yuri Senko said. “I am sure that such visits will become regular in our cooperation in the future. They help strengthen contacts, improve customs controls on transboundary shipments, share experience in personnel training,” he added. The guests from the United Arab emirates got familiar with the K9 service of the Belarusian customs service, the departmental institute, the customs laboratory.
