Customs halts unloading of containers belonged to M/s China Overseas Port Holding Company Ltd

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Customs has stopped to unload the containers of China Overseas Port Holding Company Limited (COPHCL) on Gwadar Port. The company has sought advice from Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) in this regard, it is learnt here.

According to official sources, Pakistan Customs reported to FBR headquarters and informed the authorities that COPHCL tried to unload the containers on the Gwadar Port without having WeBOC ID and other legal documents where the Pakistan Customs has refused to unload the container of COPHCL on the port.

Sources also said that the company has requested the board to issue notification under Section 9 and 10 of Customs Act 1969 in order to facilitate the COPHCL on unloading and cargo handling on the Gwadar Port. The board has sent the notification draft to law division keeping in view the request from the COPHCL and situation clarified by the Customs authorities on port. The board may issue notification after law division approval, sources added.

It is also important to mention here that China Overseas Port Holding Company Limited (COPHCL) has also requested the board for further facilitation and concession on the port.
