Stakeholders seek explanation from FBR over ban on non-filers for purchasing immoveable properties

ISLAMABAD: Field formations of Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), Excise and Taxation Departments and other stakeholders have asked clarification from FBR regarding the ban on the non-filers to purchase the immoveable properties.

According to sources, FBR Inland Revenue Operation Wing has received letters in which it is stated by the concern stakeholders that FBR has banned the non-filers from buying the immoveable property through Finance Bill 2018; however, the board has not yet issued circular for the explanation which is creating confusion among the taxpayers and field formations and other concern departments. Taxi owners associations and Pakistan Good Transport Association have also sent letters for the explanation in this regard, sources added.

Sources added that field formations of FBR have also sought explanation on the purchase of property and asset under section 227-C that which category included in the said section of Finance bill 2018. While excise and taxation department has written in its letter that it has stopped the new registration of vehicles and sought several explanation in this regard, sources added.

Meanwhile, the FRB has consulted with the legal department on the queries received by FBR regarding ban on the non-filers to purchase the immoveable properties and is expected to issue a circular soon.
