Multan Customs impounds Hino tanker loaded with smuggled petroleum oil & lubricants

MULTAN: Collectorate of Customs Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) has impounded a Hino tanker filled with 45,000 liters smuggled (petroleum oil and lubricants) POL in their action.

Deputy Collector Customs received reliable information from their source that consignment of POL products will be transported from Muzaffargarh to Multan. Deputy Collector Headquarters Saqib-ur-Rehman deployed anti-smuggling staff consisting of Superintendent Habib-ur-Rehman, Inspector Ghulam Asghar, Inspector Rana Altaf Kareem and others to foil attempt of smuggling in jurisdiction.

Multan anti-smuggling squad intercepted Hino oil tanker near Adda Baseera during their harsh monitoring of vehicles. During the checking the team recovered 45,000 liters of smuggled POL products worth Rs4.5 million during their action. The driver of the said oil tanker was asked to produce legal documents of said petroleum products in order to justify its legal possession but he failed to produce any import documents. After their failure customs teams took the oil tanker in their custody after examination.

Multan Customs took the oil tanker which was operated for the transportation of smuggled petroleum products. The value of oil tanker was Rs.2.5 million. Further investigations are still under process regarding the recovered petroleum products.

It is pertinent to mention here that high speed diesel and petroleum products smuggling been enhanced after the raise in their international prices from Iran Balouchistan border and customs teams has alerted to prevent any smuggling of Petroleum products in the country.
