Multan Customs to launch helpline to curb smuggling of goods & vehicles

MULTAN: Customs Collectorate has decided to launch public helpline number for information sharing of smuggling in the jurisdiction.

Sources told Customs Today, Customs Collectorate is devising new and different strategy to curb smuggling and has decided to launch helpline number for timely action against smuggling goods and vehicles.

Multan Customs Anti-Smuggling Organization found that rampant smuggling of non-customs paid vehicles, auto parts and other goods has been carried through Baluchistan Punjab border in the jurisdiction and depriving the national exchequer of huge revenue.

Customs authorities decided to take strict action against smugglers by enhancing monitoring of movement of goods and vehicles by deploying staff at different positions and enhanced patrolling of Anti-Smuggling Staff in different shifts to guard the region from smugglers.

Multan Customs has decided to launch helpline for the general public to give information about smugglers and Anti-Smuggling Organization will displayed banners in different places of Dera Ghazi Khan, Sakhi Sarwar, Rajanpur to aware public about curse of smuggling in society and customs inspectors number will be mention on these banners for assistance of public.

The Customs staff will be alerted and pursue appropriate action against smugglers in the jurisdiction after receiving any information from public and informer name will not be disclosed for security purposes. Deputy collector Anti-Smuggling Organization will supervise all actions against smugglers to ensure positive results.
