DG Valuation revises customs value of almond through Valuation Ruling 1037/2017

Sargodha ASO confiscates non-duty paid almonds

SARGODHA: The Customs Anti Smuggling Organisation (ASO) seized 1395 kilograms of foreign origin almonds worth Rs1.2 million during a crackdown on Saturday.

Sources told Customs Today, the ASO team intercepted Mazda mini truck bearing registration no: FDS-18-1844 and recovered 1365 kilograms. The officials asked the driver of the vehicle who was later identified as Shafqat Mehmood to show documents regarding its legal import but he remained failed. He told that he is only driver of the vehicle and going to deliver these almonds to another person in Sargodha.

Therefore the goods were seized under Section 168 Import and Export Control Act 1950 punishable under Section 156 (1) 90 (i) of the Customs Act 1969.

ASO team comprising Superintendent Chaudhary Sardar Muhammad, Inspector Malik, Atif Bashir Ahmed, Sepoy Abdul Hameed Muhammad Feroz, Muhammad Abdullah, Muhammad Ashraf Shafqat Mehmood Muhammad Amin and others.

After passage of considerable time no one appeared before the seizing agency to claim ownership of seized almonds therefore the case has been forwarded to adjudication department for further proceedings.
