Customs foils bid to smuggle heroin worth Rs2.5m to UK

KARACHI: Customs staff posted at EMS Exports, Shahrah-e-Faisal has foiled an attempt of heroin smuggling.

According to the details, information was received to the higher authorities regarding the smuggling of the heroin to the foreign country through a private courier service after which a raid was conducted to apprehend the same.

The parcel of 240 grams light brown heroin powder was concealed in ladies shoes packed in shipment of ladies cloths and accessories and had to be sent to a person at Bradford UK from Hyderabad but the staff of the Pakistan Customs taking the suitable measures conducted a raid and manage to recovered the drug.

In an initial investigation, the Customs authorities got details of the sender, whereas the information of the person at the receiver hand has also been obtained to further extend the inquiry against the heinous crime.

The Customs officers grilled the workers of the private courier service after taking the parcel containing heroin powder into their custody.

The recovered two hundred and forty grams light brown heroin powder worth Rs 2.5 million in international market. The case has been registered under supervision of Assistant Collector Waseem Feroz and Additional Collector Sanaullah Abro.
