Gwadar Customs seizes non-duty paid Iranian juices & carpets worth Rs7.50m

GWADAR: Collectorate of Customs team seized huge quantity of Iranian juices and non-duty paid carpet vehicle being used for smuggling worth Rs7.50 million.

Sources told Customs Today on Monday evening that Deputy Collector Junaid Mehmood received secret information that some smugglers trying to smuggle non-duty paid Iranian carpets and juices from Gwadar to Karachi.

After receiving this information, he constituted a raiding team under the supervision of Customs Preventive Inspector Mujahid Bangash, Mudassir Agha and Yahya Safdar and others. The team, during a search operation on Gwadar Highway, intercepted a truck bearing registration no: SBF-9037.

During search, the team impounded more than 500 non-duty paid big and small carpets & 200 carton of Iranian juices worth Rs7.50 million including truck being used in smuggling.

The team seized all smuggled items and arrested truck driver, who were later identified as Khalil Ahmed. Sources said that customs official started investigations from accused person.
