Customs Court approves remand of lady booked in mobile phones smuggling case

KARACHI: The Customs Court sent suspect lady Seema Rauf wife of Abdul Rauf to customs department on physical remand, who is booked in a case of attempting to smuggled non-duty paid foreign origin mobile phones and memory cards valuing to Rs5,809,413.

On October 11, 2018, investigation officer produced the above mentioned lady before the court and informed that on credible information the above mentioned lady was intercepted at International Arrival Hall, JIAP, who arrived from Dubai by Emirates flight no: EK-608 and she was asked to search her body and luggage.

He further informed that court that during the search, customs officials found 11 I-Phones-7 used worth Rs541,200. 03, I-Phone-X new worth Rs369,000 and 36,000 memory cards valuing to Rs4,899,213 from a pair of black color crepe bandage and one black color polyester swimming costume speedo brand, worn by the above said lady for concealment of mobile phones and memory cards.

He submitted that prosecution needs further investigations from her for arrest of other culprits therefore, court may grant her physical remand, after the hearing, court granted her physical remand and directed investigation officer to produce her before the court on next date of hearing.
