ANF seizes over 2,608kg drugs worth Rs2.144b, arrests 17 suspects

RAWALPINDI: The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) has seized 2,608.595 kilogram of narcotics valuing Rs 2.144 billion internationally, arrested 17 culprits including two women involved in drug smuggling and impounded nine vehicles conducting 16 counter-narcotics strikes throughout the country.

The seized drugs comprised 2,578.12 kg hashish, 11.15 kg opium, 16.965 kg heroin, 7.575 kg amphetamine and 800 gram methamphetamine.

ANF Quetta intercepted 802 kg hashish from a dry nullah at General Area of Killi Damam, Tehsil Gulistan District Qila Abdullah. In another intelligence based operation, ANF Quetta intercepted a Hino Truck at General Area, mountains of Upper Makola, Tehsil and District Awaran and recovered 1,700 kg hashish from the truck.

ANF Rawalpindi arrested Khaista Rehman and his female accomplice Lal Bibi both residents of Karachi from Islamabad International Airport and recovered 3.170 kg amphetamine soaked in clothes present in their trolley bag. The arrested accused intended to fly to Saudi Arabia by Etihad Airlines.

In another operation, ANF Rawalpindi arrested Muhammad Sher resident of Upper Dir from the Islamabad International Airport and recovered 465 gram heroin from his personal possession. The arrested accused intended to fly to Dubai by Pakistan International Airlines. In a third operation, ANF Rawalpindi arrested Babar Khan, resident of Mansehra from Islamabad International Airport and recovered 805 gram amphetamine from his trolley bag. The arrested accused intended to fly to Riyadh by Shaheen Airlines.

In a fourth operation, ANF Rawalpindi intercepted a Toyota Corolla Car from Attock Petrol Pump, T-Chowk, Islamabad and recovered 4.8 kg hashish from the trunk of the vehicle. Two persons onboard Fazal Mahmood and Niaz Khan were arrested from the vehicle during the operation.

In a fifth operation, ANF Rawalpindi arrested Muhammad Naqash resident of Swabi from Islamabad International Airport and recovered 980 gram amphetamine from his travelling bag. The arrested accused intended to fly to Medina by PIA. In sixth operation, ANF Rawalpindi intercepted a Toyota Hiace from opposite Skyways Bus Stand, Faizabad, Rawalpindi and recovered 10 kg of opium concealed in a compressed natural gas cylinder of the vehicle. A person onboard, Ali resident of Mohmand Agency was also arrested during the operation.

In a seventh operation, ANF Rawalpindi intercepted a Toyota Corolla Car from Missile Chowk, F-10, Islamabad and recovered 3.6 kg hashish from the trunk of the car. Two accused, Taj Muhammad and Daulat Khan, both residents of Mohmand Agency were arrested from the vehicle during the operation.

ANF Lahore intercepted a train proceeding from Lahore to India at Wagah Railway Station and recovered 16.5 kg heroin concealed in air pressure brake tanks of the train. In another operation, ANF Lahore intercepted a Suzuki Cultus near Motorway M-4, Gojra Toll Plaza, Faisalabad and recovered 28.8 kg hashish from personal possession of the accused Syed Ahmed Shah resident of Mardan present in the vehicle.

In third operation, ANF Lahore intercepted a Suzuki Mehran car from Khera Chowk, Southern bypass, Khanewal Road, Multan and recovered 6 kg hashish and 1.150 kg opium from personal possession of Asif Munir resident of Multan present in the vehicle. In fourth operation, ANF Lahore intercepted a Suzuki Mehranr from Motorway M-4, Gojra Toll Plaza, Faisalabad and recovered 14.4 kg hashish concealed in secret cavities of the vehicle. Taufiq Ahmed and Farhanullah, both residents of Peshawar were arrested from the vehicle during the operation.

In a fifth operation, ANF Lahore arrested Muhammad Salim, resident of Faisalabad from Allama Iqbal International Airport and recovered 800 grams of methamphetamine from his trolley bag. The arrested accused intended to fly to Jeddah by Shaheen Airlines. In another operation, ANF Lahore arrested Fayyaz Hussain Shah and his female accomplice Iqbal Bibi, both residents of Lodhran from Multan International Airport and recovered 900 gram amphetamine from Nimko packets present in the luggage.

ANF Peshawar arrested Muhammad Hussain, resident of Hangu from Peshawar International Airport and recovered 1.720 kg hashish concealed in a harmonium placed in his shoulder bag. The arrested accused intended to fly to Doha, Qatar by Qatar Airways.

In another operation, ANF Peshawar arrested Jalil Ahmed, resident of Upper Dir and recovered 1.720 kg amphetamine concealed in a dough kneader being carried by him. The arrested accused intended to fly to Jeddah by PIA.

In third operation, ANF Peshawar intercepted a Toyota Corolla car from opposite Wadood Centre, near PDA Building, Main Road, Hayatabad, Peshawar on information basis and recovered 22.8 kg hashish tactfully concealed in the doors of the car. Two persons onboard Shahid Waheed and Muhammad Imran, both residents of Narowal were arrested on the spot.
