Customs Court approves bail of woman booked in mobile phones smuggling

KARACHI: The Customs Court granted after arrest bail to suspected female smuggler namely Seema Rauf, daughter of Abdul Rauf, who was booked in a case of attempting to smuggled non-duty paid foreign-origin mobile phones and memory cards worth Rs5,809,413.

On October 24, 2018, counsel for the accused moved bail petition and argued that his client is innocent and was falsely implicated in this case, who is ready to face trial and she is giving assurance that she would appear each and every date of hearing before the court, therefore, court may grant her bail till final order in this case.

After the hearing, court granted her bail against the surety of Rs200,000 and directed her to appear before the court on next date of hearing.

According to the prosecution, on credible information above mentioned woman was intercepted at International Arrival Hall, JIAP, who coming from Dubai by M/s Emirate Airline’s flight no: EK-608 and she was asked to get her body and luggage searched.

Investigation officer further informed the court that during the search, customs officials found 11 iPhones 7 used worth Rs541,200. 03, iPhoneX new Rs369,000 and 36,000 memory cards worth Rs4,899,213 from a pair of black color crepe bandage and one black color polyester swimming costume speedo brand, worn by the said woman for concealing mobile phones and memory cards.
