ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Revenue Automation (Pvt) Limited (PRAL) wing of Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has started three new projects in order to curb revenue leakage, broaden the tax net and smooth selection of taxpayers for audit, it is learnt here.

Official sources told Customs Today that these projects were approved during the last Board of Directors (BoD) meeting of Pakistan Revenue Automation (Pvt) Limited where detailed presentations were given by the chief executive officer (CEO) of the PRAL to participants of the meeting.

Sources added that a computerized system will be established in all customs stations and seaports which will identify mis-declarations in real-time in order to curb tax evasion and halt revenue leakage.

Meanwhile, the PRAL is introducing a P. A. model for selecting the sales taxpayers and non-corporate income taxpayers for the audit, sources confirmed

On the other hand, the PRAL wing is going to start third party Data Bank. Under this project, the FBR’s data will be linked to NADRA, excise and taxations, property record department and Motor Vehicle Branch’s data while it will also be linked with Withholding data of Telecommunication companies. This data bank will help the board to get the data from the provinces in order to broaden the tax net, sources told.
