Customs Court issues NBWs against suspect booked in smuggling of DTH equipment

KARACHI: The Customs Court issued non-bailable warrants against suspect namely Sudham, CEO of M/s Modern (Bunty) Electronics, Shaheed Ganj Sukkur, who was absconder in a case of attempting to smuggle and sale of direct to home (DTH) equipment in open market used to broadcast Indian channels and transfer of money charged against these services and shifting to abroad through illegal channels.

On November 20, 2018, investigation officer submitted before the court that the above-mentioned suspect is main accused who is still absconder in this case and he is trying his best for suspect’s arrest; he sought further time to submit final challan. After the hearing, the court accepted charge sheet and issued non-bailable warrants against absconder suspect.

Earlier, the court had granted bail to suspect Gordhan son of Gomind Mal owner of M/s Modern (Bunty) Electronics, Shaheed Ganj Sukkur against the surety of Rs100,000.

According to the prosecution, on an information that in the light of suo moto notice of Chief Justice of Pakistan regarding availability and illegal sale of direct to home (DTH) equipment in open market used to broadcast Indian channels and transfer of money charged against these services and shifting abroad through illegal channels, a team of customs department, FIA, PEMRA raided at above-mentioned shop at Sukkar.

He submitted that during the raid the team found thousands of different foreign branded Direct to Home (DTH), Dish TV switch, STAR GOLD Satellite Dish Antenna HD Ready, Dish, Platinum, Satcom, fast radio frequency and other goods.
