Gwadar Customs seizes non-duty paid goods worth Rs9.61m during crackdown

GWADAR: Collectorate of Customs team seized non-duty paid refrigerators, oven and other accessories worth Rs 9.61 million including vehicle being used for smuggling.

Sources told Customs Today on 22-11-2018 that Deputy Collector Junaid Mehmood received secret information that some smugglers are trying to smuggle non-duty paid refrigerators, ovens and other accessories from Gwadar to different cities.

After receiving this information, he constituted a raiding team under the supervision of Customs Preventive Inspector  Suhail Aman, Ziaur Rehman and others. The team, during a search operation on Jewani Road (By Pass Post) intercepted a vehicle bearing registration no: BDG-0547.

During search, the team impounded more than 100 pieces of different refrigerators, 100 kitchen ovens, 200 sets of kitchen cabinets and crockery items valued at Rs 9.61 million including truck being used in smuggling.

The team seized all smuggled items and arrested the truck driver. Sources said that customs officials started investigations from the accused person.
