Businessmen hail  $450m investment in Pakistan by SMC

RAWALPINDI: Suzuki Motor Corporation (SMC) Chairman Osamu Suzuki paid a visit to a local dealership center at Rawalpindi here. In his address to staff, vendors and dealers, Osamu, said that the company is interested to invest $450 million in setting up another production plant in Karachi.

Chairman Osamu Suzuki on the occasion expressed gratitude to the Pak Suzuki staff, vendors, dealers and the government, without which 2 million vehicle production could not have been possible. He further said that Pak Suzuki was the first to enter Pakistan automobile industry and hoped that Suzuki would contribute more towards the development of Pakistan’s auto industry.

RCCI President Malik Shahid Saleem welcomed the initiative of Suzuki Motors to invest $450 million in Pakistan. He acknowledged that this initiative will not only help in creating more jobs but also provide an opportunity to boost exports in automobile sector. He demanded that Government of Pakistan should provide conducive environment for local manufacturers and support Pak Suzuki to run its business smoothly in Pakistan.

CEO Central Motors, and former President RCCI, Sohail Altaf termed Osamu visit to Rawalpindi a historical and said it was a remarkable achievement by Pak Suzuki to produce 2 million vehicles in Pakistan. He said it is time to take Pakistan’s auto industry to a new level and emphasised that it is the global supply network of Suzuki Motor Corporation that can make it happen. He said that Suzuki is planning to invest $450 million for putting up a brand-new plant. He assured that the business community of Pakistan would ensure that Pak Suzuki will get all the incentives and benefits which it really deserves.
