ASO seizes smuggled goods, vehicles worth Rs20m

ISLAMABAD: The Anti-Smuggling Organization has seized huge quantity of smuggled items along with four non-customs paid offending vehicles worth Rs20 million and arrested one person.

Deputy Collector Wajid Zaman while talking with Customs Today said that under the supervision of Collector Zulifqar Ali Chaudhry and Additional Collector Muhammad Ishfaque., the ASO started crackdown against notorious smugglers of non-duty paid vehicles. He added that during the last 24 hours, the ASO impounded Toyota Surf vehicle and Toyota Corolla Fielder car.

The Deputy Collector said that during the above-said period, the ASO seized 8 cartons of foreign-origin smuggled watches, one loaded truck of almond, one truck of red chili seeds, dry milk along with two offending vehicles.

Wajid Zaman said that total value of offending vehicles, NDP vehicles as well as smuggled goods, is estimated at Rs20 million while further investigation are under way. He said that the ASO staff who seized the smuggled goods comprises Superintendent Malak Abid Hussain, Inspector Khalid Khattak, Umber and other supporting customs staff.
