FBR organises training workshop on FATF for Excise officers

LAHORE: A training programme was organised under the auspices of the Directorate General (DG) Intelligence & Investigation (I&I) Inland Revenue, Islamabad held here at Regional Tax Office (RTO) Lahore on Wednesday.

The basic purpose of the training programme was the creation of awareness among the officers of Excise & Taxation Department regarding important points of the plan under Financial Action Task Force (FATF) particularly under Resolutions No.1267 and 1373 of the Security Council of the United Nations.

The Additional Director Arshad Nawaz Cheena represented the Directorate General I&I in Inland Revenue while Deputy Director, Omar Riaz, represented the Financial Monitoring Unit (FMU) respectively.

Addressing the session, Director General I&I Shad Muhammad highlighted the benefits of the workshop.

He told the participants that coming out of the FATF’s grey list is how much important for Pakistan. He urged the participants to utilize the information obtained during the training programme to detect those assets which can be used in the financing of terrorists’ organizations.

DGCT Ahmed Farooq and Financial Monitoring Unit (FMU) Deputy Director Umar Riyaz also addressed the session. The training programme is being organized by the Financial Monitoring Unit in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and such programmes would also be organized in other provincial capitals in next few days.
