Faisalabad ASO impounds items worth Rs14.04m

FAISALABAD: Collectorate of Customs Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) has recovered smuggled items worth Rs14.04 million during the month of November 2018.

Sources informed Customs Today that Collector Asif Mahmood Jah constituted teams to foil smuggling attempts. These teams conducted various raids under the supervision of Assistant Collector Shah Samad Hamdani which also included Superintendent Tanveer Raza Naqvi, Inspector Khalid Ashraf Noor, Irfan Mumtaz, Shah Nawaz and Muhammad Ashraf, Liaquat Al, Israr Ahmad and Muhammad Abdullah sepoys. The team seized smuggled goods and three vehicles worth under Section 157 of the Customs Act 1969 which was being used for smuggling transportation.

The ASO team successfully seized foreign origin cloth 1190 kilograms, betel nuts 1930 kilograms foreign origin cigarettes 750 dandas worth Rs750000 and other items 5950 kilograms were brought into the country without payment of customs duty and taxes.

Sources said that the accused persons failed to produce any legal documents regarding possession of vehicles and items. Now ASO authorities forwarded cases of seizure to Customs Adjudication.
