SIALKOT: Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has ordered special audit of all the local bodies and registration branches in Gujranwala Division, following the growing complaints of financial irregularities and funds embezzlement.
According to the senior FBR officials , there were three municipal corporations in Sialkot, Gujrat and Gujranwala cities, six District Councils in all the six Sialkot, Narowal, Gujrat, Mandi Bahaud Din, Hafizabad and Gujranwala districts, 26 municipal committees in 26 tehsils and 18 registration branches as well.
The officials said that there were growing complaints of exceeding their official powers, financial irregularities and funds’ embezzlements.
“Taking serious notice of these complaints, the FBR has ordered their urgent special audit, saying that if these irregularities were proved then cases would be registered against all the responsible people, in this regard”, said the local senior FBR officials.
The officials said that FBR would soon seize all the official records of all the complete or under completed development schemes by the Local Bodies there as well. FBR has also formulated the special audit teams, in this regard.
