ISLAMABAD: The Finance Division has directed Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) to slash five percent duty on the import of newsprint.
The Finance Division issued directive through a written office memorandum to the FBR chairman. Earlier, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting had informed Finance Ministry that Prime Minister Imran Khan had announced waiver of 5 percent duty on the import of newsprint.
Ministry of finance is requested to take necessary action in the matter, Ministry of Information added.
During last meeting between Prime Minister Imran Khan and Council of Newspapers Editors and Pakistan Broadcasters Association, Prime Minister announced withdrawal of five percent duty on newsprint.
