Customs court sends suspects to jail involved in smuggling

KARACHI: Customs Court sent suspects namely Hidayatullah, son of Muhammad Kareem and Muhammad Hazrat, son of Haji Muhammad Mir, to Central Jail on judicial remand, who are booked in a case of attempting to smuggle/non-duty-paid Iranian blankets, diesel, engine oil and foreign-origin cigarettes.

On December 26, 2018, investigation officer of Customs Hyderabad produced the above-mentioned suspects before the court and informed that a team of customs department along with Shahbaz Rangers on Abdul Jabbar Shaheed Check Post intercepted a Hino coach bearing registration no: BSB-892.

He further stated that during the hearing, customs officials found Iranian blankets, Indian gutka, Iranian HSD, engine oil UAE, Brahan engine oil, engine oil, ajinomoto large, ajinomoto small, foreign-origin tyres, Benson, Business, Dunhill, Pine Light Ashima cigarettes, betel nuts and other contraband goods from the same.

He said that total C&F value of recovered goods is Rs77,729,200 and total duty and taxes of recovered is Rs7,696,617.

After hearing, the court sent them to jail and directed investigation officer to complete investigation and submit challan on next date of hearing.
