Customs Court accepts challan in HSD smuggling case

KARACHI: The Customs Court accepted interim charge sheet against suspect namely Hashim Khan son of Hakeem Khan, resident of tehsil Adanzai district Lower Dir, who was arrested in a case of attempting to smuggle non-duty paid High Speed Diesel (HSD).

On January 4, investigation officer of customs department submitted interim charge sheet and informed that information was received to the effect that a Hino tanker bearing registration no: QAE-9617, was moving on Mai Gari near Northern Bypass containing Iranian smuggled diesel in a water tanker.

He submitted that pursuant to the said information, the ASO Preventive staff posted at Super Highway Choke Point intercepted said water tanker and recovered 6000 litters High Speed Diesel (HSD). During the search, above-mentioned suspect was asked to produce lawful documents, however, he failed to produce any lawful documents, therefore, goods were taken into custody and suspect was also arrested.

He submitted that Preventive Officer Iftikhar Hassan Khan, sepoy Muhammad Noman, sepoy Danish and investigation officer Muddasir Ali’s names are mentioned in interim challan as witnesses. After the hearing, the court accepted challan and fixed the date for copy supply to suspect.
