Sargodha ASO impounds non duty paid Mercedes Benz

FAISALABAD: The Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) impounded foreign origin Mercedes Benz truck 10 wheeler bearing registration no: TKY-344 Model 1982 worth Rs9 million involving duty and taxes to the tune of Rs4.4 million during a crackdown.

Sources told Customs Today that Collector Mirza Mubashir Baig received information regarding some smuggling attempts. He formed ASO team under the supervision of Assistant Collector Shah Samad Hamadani which also included Inspector Ghulam Jaffar, Superintendent Irfan Mumtaz, Malik Atif Mumtaz, Havaldar Rana Muhammad Ashraf and Sepoy Muhammad Mansha, Manzoor Shah. The ASO team intercepted the truck near Khushab Road district Sargodha.

The ASO team asked the driver of the vehicle identified as Noor Ali Khan to produce legal documents regarding the possession of the vehicle but he failed to show any legal documents. The ASO team seized the vehicle and forwarded the case to the customs adjudication.
