Tax evasion: FBR starts probe against owners of flats located in Grand Hayat Tower

ISLAMABAD: Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has started investigations against the tax defaulters who own flats in Grand Hayat Tower Islamabad but still not registered with FBR.

Official sources told Customs Today that at least 40 flats owners who have invested in the expensive Grand Hayat Tower situated at Constitution Avenue-1; however, they are not paying taxes to FBR.

Sources added that FBR has also prepared a list after consulting with FIA and CDA in this regard to thoroughly investigate the issue that who have invested in the said Tower and either they are regular taxpayers and registered with FBR.

FBR has started investigations against them; however, in the initial stages it is observed that more than 40 flat owners are not registered with FBR and they are not in the tax net, sources confirmed.

Sources added that FBR is also unfolding the Tax Amnesty Scheme beneficiaries who have disclosed their assets during the scheme and they had investment in the Grand Hayat Tower.

It is important to mention here that FIA has provided a list of at least 240 owners of flats in the Grand Hayat Tower for investigation to check either they are taxpayers are not?
