KARACHI: The Customs Court sent suspects namely Muhammad Qasim son of Hawas Khan and Sultan Mehmood to Central Jail on judicial remand, who were booked in a case of attempting to smuggle non-duty paid 18085 liters High Speed Diesel.
On January 26, 2019, investigation officer produced the above mentioned suspects before the court and informed that on credible information, customs officials intercepted a Nissan Dumper truck bearing registration number: TAJ-341 near Manghopir Road, Karachi and recovered 18085 liters High Speed Diesel valuing to Rs1,627,650.
He argued that prosecution completed investigation from them and court may send them to jail, after the hearing, court sent them to jail and directed investigation officer to complete investigation and submit charge sheet on next date of hearing.
According to the prosecution, case was registered for violation of under Section 2 (s) 156 (2) 157 (2) and 178 of Customs Act, 1969 punishable under Clause 8 & 89 of Section 156 (1) ibid read with Section 3 (1) of Imports & Export Control Act, 1950.
