ISLAMABAD: Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has decided to close the mobile registration counters earlier established at all airports of the country at the end of February 2019.
Official sources told Customs Today that after the decision taken by the government that the imported mobile phones will be registered at the mobile companies official offices and franchises at their home cities, where the mobile phone companies have online facilities of PTA to register the imported mobile phones, so the board has now decided to close all the mobile registration counters earlier established at all airports by the customs officials.
Sources added that however, the customs officials will now only have to collect the duty imposed on the imported mobile phones while customs officials have no authority to deal with the registration of imported mobile phones.
It is important to mention here that customs officials had restarted the activities of mobile registration on their counters after a small break of 15 days during last month i.e. January 2019; however, the board this month will issue official notifications regarding closing the mobile registration counters established at Airports across the country.
