FBR gives Aleema Khanum February 7 deadline to submit tax liabilities

ISLAMABAD: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) sent another notice to Prime Minister Imran Khan’s sister Aleema Khanum on Monday after she failed to submit tax liabilities in the foreign properties case,.

According to sources, the FBR gave Aleema time till February 7 to submit her liabilities. The premier’s sister had purchased an apartment in Dubai worth over 2,878,000 dirhams. The FBR board later imposed a fine and tax worth Rs29.4 million against her. Aleema Khanum fails to submit tax liabilities to FBR

She now has to submit a tax of Rs22.1 million for concealing properties in Dubai which Aleema had requested the chairman of the revenue board to break down the sum into installments.

In an affidavit submitted to the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), Aleema had claimed that she owned a property — namely Lofts East 1406 — in Dubai and that it was paid from the funds generated from her business dealings overseas.

According to prime minister’s sister, she purchased the property worth $370,000 in 2008 with 50 per cent bank mortgage but sold it out in 2017.
