Finance division imposes ban on entertainment & gifts funds

ISLAMABAD: Ministry of Finance Budget Wing imposed ban in federal budget on the expenditure under the head of “Entertainment & Gifts” for all federal ministries, divisions and related departments and ordered to surrender the remaining balance. The governors of provinces will also show compliance on the orders of finance division as a federal representative.

Deputy Secretary Finance Division Budget Wing Sajjad Azhar has issued a letter to the Controller General of Accounts Islamabad and the Accountant General Pakistan Revenue, sub-offices Lahore, Peshawar, Gilgit-Baltistan, Islamabad, Karachi and Quetta to direct that in view of the cabinet decision, meeting held on Wednesday 5th September 2018, budgetary allocations under the head “ Entertainment & Gifts” may be restricted and no bill will be entertained after the month of January 2019, on this account.

Moreover, no re-appropriation from or to the said head may be allowed. Finance Division Budget Wing also requested to the principal accounting officers (federal secretaries and head of the federal departments) to surrender the balance fund under the head of Entertainment & Gifts.
