Faisalabad ASO seizes non-duty paid goods worth Rs10.4m

FAISALABAD: The Customs Anti Smuggling Organization (ASO) seized goods of different brands worth Rs10.4 million in various operations during the month of January 2019.

Sources told Customs Today that under the supervision of Collector Mirza Mubashir Baig, the ASO team arrested several smugglers to curb the illegal business.

The raiding ASO team consisted of Superintendent Tanveer Raza Naqvi, Inspector Khalid Ashraf Noor, Farhan Frank, Muhammad shah Nawaz, Irfan Faheem and others sepoy.

The ASO impounded three offending vehicles worth Rs 1500000 under Section (U S 157) which were being used for smuggling. Two others vehicles were also impounded which was brought into country without payment of duty taxes. Foreign origin cloths weighed 700 kilograms worth Rs9,45,000 confiscated Indian tea 250 kilograms worth Rs90,000, cigarettes 4000 dandas worth Rs40,000 Pan Prag Zafrani Patti worth Rs 1200000 and others items 63305 kilograms worth Rs17,88,500 were also recovered.

The ASO seized items under Import and Export Control Act.1950 punishable under Section 156(i) 89(i) and 90 of the Custom Act 1969 and forwarded the cases to the Customs Adjudication further proceedings.
