According to All Pakistan Fruit and Vegetable Exporters, Importers and Merchants Association (PFVA) Patron-in-Chief Waheed Ahmed told that import of unhealthy tomatoes from India has been banned for the last three years. Indian media reacted negatively after farmers vowed to not export tomatoes to Pakistan.

Moreover, price of tomatoes in India has been reduced to Rs4 from Rs11, causing a great damage to fruit and vegetable exporters of India. “Pakistan is self-dependent on basic food items including fruit and vegetables” PFVA’s Ahmed said. He said that stubborn attitude of India towards resolution of Kashmir conflict would be detrimental for itself.
