KARACHI: The Customs Court sent suspects namely Abdul Razzaq, Sana-Ul-Haq, Fazal Razzaq, Ameer Zaib, Ameer Zada and Nadeem Badshah to Central Jail on judicial remand, who were involved in a case of attempting to smuggle non-duty paid 10300 liters diesel oil which was being smuggled through wooden launch namely Al-Rehan.
On February 25, 2019, investigation officer produced the above-mentioned suspects before the court and informed that it is emerged that the Iranian smuggled/ non-duty paid diesel was loaded in the wooden launch namely Al-Rahen bearing registration no: BFD-15314 after purchasing and shifting from Iranian lunches/boats anchored in the outer anchorage as easily available at Pushikan at very cheaper rate to be sold to fishing boats operating in the sea and at Karachi coast for lucrative purpose.
He further informed the court that the overall structure and fitting of tanks in the instant impugned wooden launch revealed that it was specially designed for the sole purpose of transportation of smuggled/non-duty paid diesel in specially designed tank in the wooden boat/launch which are connected to mechanical discharge systems of generator operated pumps.
He said that it is not out of place to mention here that recently customs staff has also seized few launches involved in the identical nature of diesel oil smuggling therefore, it is established that the diesel recovered from the aforementioned wooden launch/ boat is smuggled and brought from Iran through unauthorized channels in illegal way.
He argued that prosecution has no objection if court sends them to jail because investigation has been completed from them. After the hearing, court sent them to jail and directed investigation officer to complete investigation and submit charge sheet on next date of hearing.
