The accused driver Taj Ali was asked about the purchasing documents of these goods. The driver failed to provide any proof of the goods upon which they were termed non duty paid and were shifted to ASU office Nowshera. The Customs staff arrested the driver and shifted him for further interrogation.

The Customs inspector told that upon special directives issued by deputy collector anti-smuggling units for curbing the menace of smuggling have been followed which resulted in the seizure of non-duty paid tyres.

The Customs inspector further said that timely assistance from local police helped the Customs team to impound the goods which were been smuggled from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to Punjab.

The Customs staff will leave no effort to mend the ways of smugglers who not only pose loss to revenue collection but also discourage the genuine traders.

The sources further said that due to trade of non-duty paid tyres the accidents on roads have also been increased due to bad quality of tyres.
