REBELLIOUS French union bosses today threatened to bring Channel ports grinding to a halt after Brexit.
Workers in Calais said they’d block traffic between Britain and France if they didn’t get bumper pay rises.
The threat comes as a blow to the EU’s attempts to prepare for a possible No Deal Brexit.
Today the unions staged a protest in Calais and Dunkirk, the two most important ports for cross-Channel ferries.
One union leader told AFP the chaos was a foretaste of what would happen after Brexit if their demands weren’t met.
Philippe Bollengier said: “There will be stronger controls. Today you have a demonstration of what is going to happen.”
Workers are demanding more overnight pay and salary top-ups for “danger”.
Politicians in Calais have previously insisted the port will be ready for Brexit no matter what.
