ISLAMABAD: Collectorate of Customs Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) impounded three trucks loaded with Indian origin perishable goods cleared through Intra-Kashmir trade worth Rs9.03 million and arrested one person.
Additional Collector Muhammad Ashfaq Khan while talking with Customs Today said that Collector Seema Raza Bukhari received credible information about smuggling of Indian goods through intra Kashmir trade via Kohala near Murree.
He said that after getting said information the ASO team established secret ‘naka bandi’. The ASO team under the supervision of Deputy Collector Majid Hussain Gadd intercepted three trucks which were trying to escape towards Rawalpindi/Islamabad and Afghanistan.
He said that after interception of said trucks the staff made search of the seized trucks and found 13000 kgs of tomatoes including offending vehicle worth Rs2.8 million (Rs1.3 tomatoes, Rs.1.8 million vehicle), pomegranates 10916 kgs worth Rs.3.52 million (pomegranates Rs.1.52 million, vehicle Rs.2.0) and seized third truck loaded with grapes 1250 kg, banana 4200 kg and pomegranate 2025 kgs worth Rs.2.71 including offending vehicle.
Additional collector said that total value of seized goods including three offending vehicles estimated at Rs.9.03 million. He added that FIR has been logged against Afghani truck driver while further investigation is underway.
