Oman’s share index closes higher marginally

Muscat: The MSM30 index stood higher and closed at 4,156.49 points, up by 0.69 per cent. The MSM Sharia Index closed at 553.51 points, down by 0.49 per cent. Bank Nizwa was the most active in terms of volume and in terms of turnover. Taageer Finance, up 5.15 per cent, was the top gainer while the top loser was Oman Cement, which lost 7.90 per cent.

A total number of 662 trades were executed during the day’s trading session generating turnover of OMR3.30 million with more than 26.13 million shares changing hands. Out of 41 traded stocks, 17 advanced, 8 declined and 16 remained unchanged. At the session close, Omani investors were net sellers for OMR153,000, followed by GCC and Arab investors for OMR15,000 while foreign investors were net buyers for OMR168,000 worth of shares.

Financial Index closed higher by 1.14 per cent at 6,857.43 points. Taageer Finance, Bank Dhofar, Sohar International Bank, Hsbc Bank Oman and Ahli Bank were up by 5.15 per cent, 2.67 per cent, 1.74 per cent, 1.6 per cent and 1.39 per cent respectively. Oman Qatar Insurance, Takaful Oman Insurance and Al Anwar Holding were down by 1.82 per cent, 1.43 per cent and 1.12 per cent respectively.

Industrial Index was down by 0.53 per cent at 4,808.18 points. Galfar Engineering, Oman Fisheries and Oman Flour Mills were up by 3.7 per cent, 2.33 per cent, 1.61 per cent and 0.69 per cent respectively. Oman Cement was down by 7.9 per cent.

Services Index closed higher by 0.05 per cent at 2,023.52 points. Al Jazeera Services, Renaissance Services and Ooredoo were up by 2.61 per cent, 1.23 per cent and 0.8 per cent respectively. Sembcorp Salalah, OIFC, Dhofar Generating Company and Omantel were down by 1.52 per cent, 1.15 per cent, 1.03 per cent and 0.59 per cent respectively.
