US keen to invest in Bangladesh’s maritime sector

The United States (US) is willing to invest in the maritime sector of Bangladesh, US Ambassador in Dhaka Earl R Miller said yesterday.

The US envoy came up with the willingness when he met with the State Minister for Shipping Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury at his ministry office here.

During the meeting, they discussed the issues related bilateral interest, the activities and security of Chattogram seaport and the works of Mongla port, Payra port and Matarbari deep seaport.

The state minister assured the US envoy for providing cooperation to the US firms when they come up with investment in Bangladesh’s maritime sector.

Later, Khalid presented a copy of The Unfinished Memoirs (Oshomapto Attojiboni), the autobiography by Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, to the US envoy.
