KARACHI: The Karachi Port handled 117,644 tonnes of cargo comprising 95,721 tonnes of import cargo and 21,923 tonnes of export cargo including 4,792 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Tuesday. The total import cargos of 95,721 tonnes comprised of 37,171 tonnes of containerised cargo; 10 tonnes of bulk cargo 3,940 tonnes of canola; 16,464 tonnes of DAP and 38,136 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. The total export cargos of 21,923 tonnes comprised of 21,043 tonnes of containerised cargo and 880 tonnes of bulk cargo.

As many as 4,792 containers comprising of 2,627 containers import and 2,165 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Tuesday. The breakup of imported containers shows 541 of 20’s and 1,017 of 40’s loaded while nil of 20’s and 26 of 40’s empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 630 of 20’s and 421 of 40’s loaded containers while 379 of 20’s and 157 of 40’s empty containers were handled during the business hours.

There were five ships namely Hyundai Oakland, Diyala, Chemrstar Jewel, Golden Denise and River Pearl-4 carrying containers, oil tankers and dreager respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. There were four vessels viz. Conti Paris, Botany Bay, Palomar and Navig-8 Sirius carrying containers and oil tankers respectively currently at the berths.

PORT QASIM

A cargo volume of 171,023 tonnes comprising 137,939 tonnes of import cargo and 33,084 tonnes of export cargo including 3,622 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Tuesday. The total import cargo of 137,939 tonnes includes 47,350 tonnes of LNG; 4,100 tonnes of palm oil; 12,000 tonnes of diesel oil; 35,970 tonnes of coal; 716 tonnes of chemical; 1,038 tonnes of bitumen and 36,765 tonnes of containerised cargo.

The total export cargo of 33,084 tonnes includes; 1,031 tonnes of project cargo and 32,053 tonnes of containerised cargo. As many as 3,622 containers comprising of 1,935 containers import and 1,687 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Tuesday. There were two ship namely CV MSC Sofia Celeste and MT Challenge Phonix carrying containers and diesel oil respectively sailed out to sea on Tuesday morning, while four more ships namely CV MSC Bilbao, MV Athos, MV Darya Lakshmi and MT CTG Argon carrying containers, steel coil, coal and palm oil respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.

A total number of eleven vessels were occupied berths to load/offload containers, steel products, bitumen, coal, LNG, LPG, diesel oil and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours. As many as twelve vessels viz. MV Orange Harmony, MV Hong Yuang, MV Bulk Pegasus, MV Indigo Flora, MV Nord Traveler, MV Heroic Striker, MV Diomidis, MT Sovereign, MT Plautos, MT Sino Energy, MT Chembulk Jakarta and MT NCC Nasma respectively carrying soyabean, coal, diesel oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

There were five vessels viz. CV MSC Maria Elena, CV Maersk Columbus, MV Hong Yuang, MT Al-Marwab and MT Sino Energy carrying containers, coal, LNG and palm oil respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Pakistan International Bulk Terminal, Engro Elengy Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Tuesday

There were three ships namely CV MSC Maria Elena, CV Maersk Columbus and MT Al-Marwab carrying containers and LNG respectively due to arrive on Tuesday while another ship namely CV MOL Gateway carrying containers is due to arrive on Wednesday.
