Property of Muslim Cotton Mills attached for non-payment of dues

KARACHI: The Special Recovery Cell (SRC) of Model Customs Collectorate-MCC of Exports headed by the Deputy Collector of Customs-SRC Mona Iffat Baloch has issued order of attachment of immovable property consisted of 1.4 acre plot located in SITE area of M/s Muslim Cotton Mills (PVT) Limited against the non-payment of duty and taxes amounting Rs4,372,162. (along with surcharge to be calculated at the time of payment).

The Special Recovery Cell (SRC) of MCC-Exports in first phase has sent notice of attachment of immovable property to Munir Razzak Teli, Chief Executive of M/s Muslim Cotton Mills against non-payment of duty taxes amounting to Rs4,372,162 on account of misusing DTRE facility scheme under sub chapter-7 of Chapter-XII of Customs Rules-2001 notified vide SRO450(I)/2001.

Subsequently, the notices for recovery of government dues were issued under Section 202 of the Customs Act, 1969 read with the Chapter-XI of the Customs Rules, 2001 notified vide SRO450(I)/2001. However; the party has failed to deposit the outstanding government dues within limited time.

Later on, the SRC of MCC-Exports reacted upon in light of the warrant of attachment has attached the property measuring 1.04acres, situated at plot No A/1-A/A, SITE area belonging to M/s Muslim Cotton Mills (Pvt) Limited in favour of federal government under Section 139(4) of Chapter-XI (relating to recovery of arrears) of Customs Rules-2001 notified vide SRO450(I)/2001. Collector Manzoor Hussain Memon has hinted that the crackdown against the defaulters that would be continued till 100per cent recovery of outstanding dues.
