RAWALPINDI: A customs court ordered on Monday auctioning the property of supermodel Ayyan Ali, a proclaimed offender in the currency smuggling case.

On 1.4.2019, a senior magistrate in Karachi, in compliance with court orders, confiscated the supermodel’s DHA apartment worth Rs35 million, and submitted a report in court.

After receiving the report, Judge Arshad Hussain Bhutta ordered to auction the property, and deposit the amount in state treasury.

During the last hearing of the case on March 26, a customs court had ordered Ayyan’s arrest with the help of Interpol as she failed to appear before the court despite being summoned several times.

The court issued the perpetual arrest warrants, and also wrote a letter to the interior ministry asking to issue red warrants of the absconder.

In 2015, the supermodel was arrested at the Shaheed Benazir Bhutto International Airport while boarding a flight to the United Arab Emirates carrying $506,800 without the permission of the State Bank of Pakistan. She was sent to jail and out on the government put her name on the Exit Control List.

The supermodel, however, left the country after being released on bail and her name being removed from the no-fly list.
