I&I lodges FIR against suspects in boostin/somatotropin injections smuggling case

KARACHI: Directorate of Customs Intelligence & Investigation lodged first information report against suspects namely Sadruddin son of Babu Din, Ms. Sayed Aziza, Ms. Sadick Fathima Bibi, Hammad and others, who were involved in a case of attempting to smuggle contraband 11,140 boostin/somatotropin injections (foreign origin).

On April 15, 2019, investigation officer submitted FIR before the court and informed that on actionable information, stick surveillance was mounted on the passengers coming from aboard specially on Qatar Flight No. QR-610. During the surveillance, one suspected person namely Sadruddin was traced out at outside international lounge and during the search of his 3 bags, boostin somatotropin were found/recovered in shape, of straps each containing five injections.

He further submitted that after the formalities, suspect was arrested and goods were seized accordingly and during the investigation, he further disclosed 03 suspects names including two ladies, therefore, court may send him back to customs department on physical remand for arrest of absconding suspects.

After the hearing, court sent him on physical remand and directed investigation officer to produce him on next date of hearing along with progress report.

Case was registered for violation of under section 2 (s) 16 & 139 of the Customs Act, 1969 punishable under Clause (8) (89) & (70) of section 156 (i) ibid read with baggage rules notified vide SRO-666(1)/2006 dated 28/06/2006 & Section 3 (iii) of Imports & Exports (Control) Act, 1950.
