LAHORE: To get immense benefits from the duty free access to the Chinese market under second phase of Free Trade Agreement between the two countries, we have to concentrate on product diversification and quality.
These views were expressed by the LCCI President Almas Hyder while speaking at the inaugural ceremony of 3-day Mega Show of Pakistan Coating Industry at Expo Center, Lahore on Thursday. The show was jointly inaugurated by the LCCI President Almas Hyder and Senior Vice President Khawaja Shahzad Nasir. Organizer of the show Moazzam Rasheed, Mian Tariq Nisar and hundreds of foreign and local delegates were present on the occasion.
Thousands of products have been displayed at more than 250 stalls from local and foreign exhibitors. Almas Hyder said that Duty Free Access to Chinese market has given us an opportunity to have a great share in Chinese imports of over $ 1.74 trillion.
He said that China is one of the leading economies of the world. Increase in Pakistan’s export to China means increase in our participation in international trade that will certainly improve our economic growth.
He said that a jump of $ 6 billion in exports from Pakistan to China is expected after second phase of FTA between the two countries but a vital planning is direly needed.
The LCCI President called for an immediate survey to have awareness about the needs of Chinese market. He said that it will help Pakistani industry to develop and modify the products according to the demands of Chinese consumers.
He said that ease of doing business is an important factor and we have to improve it at any cost if we want to secure notable space in Chinese and other markets around the globe. “It is a good omen that government is well aware of the importance of ease of doing business and trying to change the scenario, the LCCI added.
About Pakistan Coating Industry Mega Show, the LCCI President said that it is an ample proof of the fact that Pakistan has all resources and abilities to organize international events. He said that frequency of exhibition should be enhanced as these are the best to catch the attention of international buyers.
