Peshawar Customs forms 13 seizure cases worth Rs82m

PESHAWAR: The Customs House collectively made 13 seizures cases worth Rs 82 million during the month of April of current fiscal year 2018-19.

According to sources, the Directorate I&I with inadequate resources has shown unprecedented performance by establishing 13 cases of seizures worth Rs 82 million during ongoing fiscal year, which is almost 100 percent higher than the preceding period.

During July 2018 to April 2019, the Collectorate has confiscated nine vehicles involved in smuggling worth Rs20.02 million, around 150,000 liters of smuggled Iranian diesel worth Rs8.05 million, 20,500 pouches of contraband Indian Gutka worth Rs9.69 million, 36,250 packets of foreign origin cigarettes worth Rs8.68 million, 25,780 kilograms of betel nuts worth Rs4.57 million, three non-customs paid vehicles worth Rs2.75 million, 133 pairs of smuggled tyres worth Rs2.17 million, 24,882 pairs of foreign origin footwear worth Rs6.16 million and 90 bottles of liquor worth Rs0.3 million.

The MCC Peshawar also impounded opium ice and hashish along with foreign origin cloth, Indian origin vegetables and China made non-duty paid fans.
