Quetta Customs seizes smuggled goods worth Rs18.4m

QUETTA: Collectorate of Customs team foiled an attempt to smuggle goods worth Rs18.4 million to Karachi.

According to sources, after receiving credible information, anti-smuggling squad was constituted under the supervision of Additional Collector Jameel Baloch which also comprises Deputy Collector Abdul Qudoos including Superintendent Saleem Khan Mandokhel, Inspectors Mohammad Tanveer and Shabbir Khan.

The above mentioned team intercepted a passenger bus near Lakpass check post. During checking the team recovered tyres, toffees, Chinese salt and cloth which were tactfully hidden inside back of the bus.

However, the bus was brought into the warehouse premises of Lakpass where during thorough search the customs staff recovered gutka and betel nuts from the specially designed cavities made beneath the floor, and roof of the bus.

Sources told that driver of the bus successfully managed to escape while further investigations are still under process.
