Hyderabad Customs seizes huge quantity of NDP goods during different operations

HYDERABAD: The Customs Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) Sukkur division check posts took into possession 95,000 liters of smuggled Iranian diesel, two vehicles including oil tanker and truck, non-duty paid five vehicles, cigarettes different brands, Indian gutka, foreign used tyers, betel nuts, canola, gents cloth, beauty cream, and other goods worth Rs 49,572,888.

Collector Khalid Hussain Jamali told Customs Today the collectorate started launched different campaigns against the smuggling during the month of May 2019 and impounded above said items. The collector formed raiding teams under the supervision of Additional Collector Dr Aamer Nawaz Hamid, Deputy Collector (HQ) Syed Kareem Adil and Kalimullah from Sukkur. The team, comprising in-charge ASO Customs Preventive Syed Momin Hussain Shah, in-charge ASO customs check post Jacobabad Zulfiqar Ali Jamali, in-charge Dera Mor Check Post Aziz Ahmed Katpar, inspector Sukkur Makhan Khan took part in the operations.

Afghan route closure weighs on Pakistan-Central Asia trade, exports fall 9%, imports plunge 88%

Sources told Customs Today that Hyderabad Collector  Khalid Hussain Jamali praised the performance of the anti-smuggling organization by saying that the Collectorate is improving its performance by impounding Iranian diesel 95,000 liters including oil tanker bearing registration number: JQ -1173 and Hino truck bearing registration no: TKV -685 involving duty and taxes worth Rs4,135,422.

The seizure of other contraband items including Pine light, Business Royal brand cigarettes, non duty paid five vehicles including Honda Civic registration no: BCS -318, non-duty paid Toyota Surf registration no: LEB-13-9976 and three different models vehicles and other various items worth million of rupees during the anti-smuggling drive.

The ASO team asked the driver to produce documents regarding the legal import of the items but he could not prove anything lawful. So the team seized the goods under the customs bylaws. The ASO deposited the confiscated goods in Hyderabad Sukkur Division State Warehouse.

Collector Khalid Hussain Jamali ordered the officials of the ASO to adopt zero tolerance against the smugglers who are out to destroy the legal business of the city.
