MULTAN: Custom anti-smuggling squad seized foreign origin cigarettes worth Rs800, 000 in their action from Dera Ghazi Khan region.
According to details, Anti-Smuggling Organization was carrying out their routine patrolling and they intercepted a suspected truck loaded with different goods. Customs anti-smuggling squad recovered 394 different outer of cigarettes during the examination of said goods. The recovered cigarettes were of different brands. Customs teams found that cigarettes were without instructions of underage and health mandatory warnings.
Sources told Customs Today that said Cigarettes were smuggled through Afghanistan from clandestine routes in the country without paying any duty taxes.
Customs team was headed by Inspector Muhammad Ali, Muhammad Sajjad, Hassan Noor and Nadir Ali. Customs asked driver of said truck to produce any import documents to prove their legal possession and they failed to do so. Customs team seized foreign origin Cigarettes under 1969 act. Further investigations are still under process.
